We Raise Our Voices: MLK Day at Hawthorne
On the observance of the Birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King on January 15th, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm we at HYCC are hosting a youth day titled We Raise Our Voices. We Raise Our Voices, is an ode to the MLK March from Roxbury to Boston Common a month after Selma in 1965.
The event will be a FREE youth-centered brunch, an Arts project related to Dr. King’s fight for equity and justice connected to our collective work today, a short presentation on the history of MLK in Boston and ending with an Open Mic presentation by youth.
The event will be mainly focused on middle and high schoolers, but as always is open to our wider community. If you know anyone at youth-serving agencies, have young people those ages at home , at your house of worship or at your school–invite them or attend with them. Our youth leaders will be leading the day.
Peace,
Lizz
