INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
WATCH is a nonprofit member-driven community development corporation in Waltham. WATCH seeks a part-time Community Organizing Intern to help move a priority campaign of our Waltham Affordable Housing Committee (WAHC):

The WAHC group has embarked on an education and planning initiative in order to grow a base of support for smart growth and affordable housing and ultimately develop a plan for how to integrate more affordable housing into development in Waltham’s South Side. The WAHC intern will oversee the coordination of community outreach via house parties, church coffee hours and other small forums in order to draw people in who may want to get involved in a longer term planning process. Hours are flexible, but will include weekday and some evening hours.

Requirements:
• Availability to work at least 12 hours a week, for a minimum of 4 months.
• Interest in learning about (and carrying out!) community organizing theory and practice
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of people
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Highly responsible, motivated and organized
• Strong communication skills – both written and oral
• Flexibility and a sense of humor
• Language skills in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole a plus

Given funding, there may be a modest stipend associated with this position. This internship is for January through May, but can be extended through the summer.

Application Instructions:
Forward a resume and letter of interest to: watch@watchcdc.org by December 31, 2008. ***Consideration of candidates will occur on a rolling basis and may occur before this deadline.***
