David Hemenway is this year’s recipient of Community Works’ Striving for Justice Award.

Striving for Social Justice Recipient

David is a Professor of Health Policy at the Harvard School of Public Health, and Director of both the Harvard Injury Control Research Center and the Harvard Youth Violence Prevention Center. Dr. Hemenway has dedicated his career to the research and implementation of violence prevention programs. He has written five books and over 130 articles on various topics related to economics and public health. He has also written widely on injury prevention and was instrumental in helping to develop the National Violent Death Reporting System for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Community Works Striving for Justice Award is presented  to a member of one of our workplace partners. This award recognizes individuals dedicated to the principles of social justice who passionately commit their time and energy to improving the quality of life for all people. The award recipient embodies the qualities of courage and strength of character and maintains an unrelenting commitment to creating a just world. They believe in the power of transformation through working not only as an individual, but as a community dedicated to equality in all forms.
