Mary Woodman Amato / Office Coordinator - admin@communityworks.com
There is a great spirit of creative teamwork and purpose at CW. My Maine, small-town beginnings give me a strong connection to the values of “community”. These are expressed through wonderful diversity and focus in the intention and action of CW. When asked, “What is the meaning of life?” The Dalai Lama answered – “To be happy and to make others happy”. This is the work we do at CW; just about the most positively rewarding place I've ever worked.”
Fran Froehlich / Executive Director, Foundress - fran@communityworks.com
After teaching junior high in the south, I moved to Massachusetts to work on hunger and homelessness issues. In 1982, a few of my colleagues and I became concerned about drastic cuts in programs designed to address affordable housing, domestic violence, equitable opportunities for women and minorities and concern for the environment. The outcome was the founding of Community Works. We knew, that for small organizations, raising money is one of their most time consuming challenges- taking precious time away from their core mission. A collaborative effort meant their would be more time available for the group’s core work. For over 20 years our dynamic partnership has stood up for affordable housing, healthcare, for safe homes, safe workplaces, civil rights, for kids, seniors and people living with disabilities. The vision and commitment of my colleagues give me hope.
Catherine Brady/Bookkeeper - catherine@communityworks.com - came to Community Works in 2006, after filling many and varied roles, from organizing to finance and administration, in the social change world in the Boston area. For more years than I can remember, I have admired the unique and critical role Community Works has played in our area. It's amazing to see what a large, effective, and visible force for change this very small staff has built (with the involvement of very active Board of Directors). I see the big difference CW makes to people in Massachusetts and I'm so grateful to be part of this team.
